Dr Volker Ziegler

Volker is an energetic leader with 25+ years of broad and international experience in the telecommunications industry. He currently serves as Senior Technology Advisor in Nokia Strategy&Technology unit. In his previous roles, Volker has exercised a leadership role with Nokia Bell Labs in 6G research and ecosystem and has served as Head of 5G Leadership and Chief Architect of Nokia Mobile Networks.

He has a Diploma-Degree of Telecommunications of University Kaiserslautern, Germany, and was serving at Siemens in various positions for mobile communications research and product management before he joined in 2013

Huawei European Research Centre as Head of Wireless Internet Technologies where he runs private and public R&D projects and programmes for e.g. car-to-car, ehealth and automation supporting 3GPP standardization and normative work for the vertical industry.

In September 2016 he was appointed as Executive Committee member for the 5GAA and re-assigned in following years. He was the initiator of 5GAA and leads the Munich team for their technical contributions to Working Groups in 3GPP / 5GAA and for 5G evolution up to 6G.

Antonio M. Lacy MD, PhD

Professor Antonio M. Lacy is the Head of the Gastrointestinal Surgery Department at the Hospital Clínic in Barcelona. He is the founder of AIS Channel (www.aischannel.com), the main global platform for surgical teaching, which seeks to bring surgeons from every corner of the world closer to the key opinion leaders and to the latest surgical innovations and technologies. Professor Lacy is a pioneer and a leader in TaTME. He has performed over 400 cases to date and has chaired numerous TaTME courses all over the world.

Professor Lacy was awarded the Honorary Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons in 2019 (ACS). He was elected Honorary Fellow of the American Association of Colorectal Surgeons (ASCRS) in 2013 and he was awarded the SAGES International Ambassador Award in 2017.

Rui Luis Aguiar

Rui L. Aguiar (born 1967) received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering in 2001 from the University of Aveiro, where he is currently a Full Professor. He was the founder of the ATNOG research group, an advanced telecommunication research group at the Universidade de Aveiro (with about 12 PhDs). He is currently co-coordinating a research line in Instituto de Telecomunicações, on the area of Networks and Services. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Senior Member of IEEE, and a member of ACM. He is serving as the Steering Board Chair of Networld Europe. As community engagement, he has served as Technical and General (co)Chair of several conferences (ICNS, ICT, ISCC, Mobiarch, Monami, NTMS, etc),. He is an associated editor of Wiley’s Emerging Telecommunication Technologies, Springers’ Wireless Networks. He has more than 100 journal papers published.

Dr. Juergen Quittek

Dr. Juergen Quittek

Dr. Jürgen Quittek is Managing Director of the NEC Laboratories Europe in Heidelberg, Germany. He received his degree in communications engineering from RWTH Aachen in 1989 and his Ph.D. from Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) in 1996. After a postdoctoral year in Berkeley, California, he joined the NEC laboratories in 1997. In 2000 he was a visiting professor at Freie Universität Berlin. He conducted research in the areas of neural networks, network management, data security, software-defined networking, energy-efficient communications, and 5G/6G mobile networks, and he served as TCP chair and member of many conferences and workshops. As working group chair, rapporteur, and author he contributed to communication standards at ETSI, IETF, and ONF. His current research interests also include artificial intelligence and bioinformatics.

Josep Martrat

Josep Martrat holds a Degree in Telecommunication Engineering from Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). He is currently Head of Telecom, Media and Edge Technologies at Atos Research and Innovation. He works on the establishment of the innovation strategy for Atos’ portfolio around telecoms. His research activity includes study of Edge computing technologies, network virtualization (SDN/NFV) and new 5G services in many vertical sectors. He is contributing to the 5G-PPP initiative and has coordinated some European research initiatives such as 5GTANGO project about agile network service development and network management and Orchestration, and he is currently leading Affordable5G initiative about the cost efficient roll-out of 5G private networks in scenarios like advance Manufacturing and MCS (Mission Critical Services). He is ATOS representative on Smart Network and Services partnership for future 6G research in Horizon Europe programme.

David Lister

David Lister

David Lister leads research on future disruptive technologies within Vodafone Group. He has 30 years’ experience that spans the introduction of 3G, 4G, and 5G technologies and has held technical and commercial roles related to spectrum regulation, standards development, and new product introduction. He is currently responsible for all aspects of 6G research in Vodafone Group and is the co-lead of the Next Generation Mobile Networks (NGMN) strategic programme on 6G that has recently published its 6G Vision representing a consolidated and global mobile operator view. David holds degrees in electrical engineering, renewable energy, and is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the IET.

His decade at GSMA, Global Mobile Trade Association with roles like Technology Director has let him share expertise with the main ecosystem players from Europe and Latin-America. This knowledge has enabled him to face, all the innovative initiatives developed by Cellnex with a broader perspective.

Ari Pouttu

Ari Pouttu

Prof. Ari Pouttu has scientific and engineering experience as a researcher, project manager and research manager in various domains of ICT development. The projects under his command have resulted in waveforms and system designs for military radio communication, radar systems, embedded device networks, future wireless radio communications including cellular systems, cognitive networks and navigation applications.
He has published more than 70 conference or journal papers in the field of wireless communications and he holds two patents. He is the principal investigator of 5G test network (5GTN) experimental research, and vice-director of the national 6G Flagship Programme targeting 6G solutions including wireless solutions for business verticals such as energy, industry, health and automotive including solutions.

Dimitra Simeonidou

Dimitra Simeonidou

Dimitra Simeonidou is a Full Professor at the University of Bristol, the Co-Director of the Bristol Digital Futures Institute and the Director of Smart Internet Lab. Her research is focusing on the fields of high-performance networks, programmable networks, wireless-optical convergence, 5G/6G and smart city infrastructures. She is increasingly working with Social Sciences on topics of digital transformation for society and businesses. Dimitra has been the Technical Architect and the CTO of the smart city project Bristol Is Open. She is currently leading the Bristol City/Region 5G and Open RAN pilots.

She is the author and co-author of over 600 publications, numerous patents and several major contributions to standards.

She has been co-founder of two spin-out companies, the latest being the University of Bristol VC funded spin-out Zeetta Networks, http://www.zeetta.com, delivering SDN solutions for enterprise and emergency networks.
